A special session on “Distance Education in Theory of Machines” will be organized during 20. National Symposium on Theory of Machines (UMTS 2021) to be held in September 15-17, 2019 by Dicle University. All presentations and discussions will be in Turkish.

Special Session Summary
Distance education at universities is likely to be widespread after the corona virus pandemic as. This special session will comprise presentations on past and current application in mechanical engineering and theory of machines, followed by a panel with the presenters, where the audience will be able to actively participate.

Corona virus pandemic had a bad influence on all levels of education all over the world and educators had to rapidly learn to use online education tools. In order to be prepared for the university education that will be reshaped after the pandemic, instructors should learn about historical development and current state of distance education. First a brief history of distance education in the world and in Turkey will be presented. Then online teaching tools will be briefly mentioned and some suggestions will be provided through an example of teaching theory of machines.
