Development of national defense industry technologies is a critical goal of our country. In this project, the design and prototype tests of a novel deployable tent mechanism will be performed. The proposed system will be the basis of a product family that can be customized for many different applications such as military command centers, post-disaster shelters, and other applications requiring rapidly deployable shelters. This kind of deployable tents need to have high deployment ratios, short setup times, low number of manpower for setup and modular design. The designed mechanism will be the frame of a tent. Parametric design of the mechanism will be performed and software that integrates the developed parametric model will produce modular solutions according to desired design criteria. Deployable tents can be transported as a single structure in the folded form, which prevents the loss of parts and assembly faults during setup. Even if the tent frame is a mechanism with theoretically rigid links and joints, it is possible that the links may be damaged due to mistakes during the setup. The project aims for the design of a system without these disadvantages and a globally competitive product in terms of ease of transportation and setup. National know-how will be gained about the design, production and tests of rapidly deployable tent mechanisms.
